The Birth of Triple Threat Athletics:
For most of my life, I lived and breathed basketball. As a kid, I shot hoops in my room, in my backyard, at the community center, wherever I could find a goal.
I often charmed, persuaded, and hounded my parents, sisters, and friends into playing such games with me as H-O-R-S-E and Around the World every chance I got.
Anything that had something to do with basketball, I had it; from NBA 2K, NBA Street, NBA Live, posters, autographs, etc.
This love of basketball eventually matured into a career. I played basketball for Collierville High School and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) These two outlets opened the door for me to play Division 1 basketball at Austin Peay State University (APSU).
During my junior year at APSU, I suffered a career-ending injury and transferred to The University of Memphis to complete my undergraduate degree. Yet, my passion for the game of basketball never left.
I channeled this passion through training children in the fundamentals of basketball. In this way, I could give them the same opportunity my coaches gave me to succeed, both on and off the court.
Soon after, I stepped out on faith and created a summer basketball camp. Both campers and their parents believed in and supported the vision, which motivated me to continue hosting the camps. Every year the camp grew, and so did my love for the youth.
I ultimately realized that I wanted to devote my life to helping youth achieve their greatest potential. My family and I brainstormed ways to maximize our positive impact on each child. We came up with the idea to start a nonprofit organization that empowers youth for success, both on the court and in the classroom. Thus, Triple Threat Athletics was born.
